Down Syndrome Clinical Trial
Our group is dedicated to building upon our laboratory findings to create clinical therapies for individuals with Down syndrome. Despite years of effort from dedicated scientists and community members, there are no approved treatments for intellectual disabilities associated with Down syndrome. This situation must change.
We believe potential therapies should be tested as quickly as possible while maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficacy. We have formed a team of scientists and doctors to design and implement a clinical trial to test drug therapies discovered in our laboratory. Our team members, based at Stanford and other top hospitals and universities, have proven expertise in Down syndrome, cognitive testing, and clinical trials. Together, we are developing a sustainable clinical trial strategy.
New horizons of potential for Down syndrome individuals and their families require objective, controlled studies and hard facts. It is our collective opinion that any clinical trial should be placebo-controlled and sufficiently large to confirm effectiveness. We are now conducting rigorous pre-clinical studies to confirm safety and efficacy of several potential drugs. We anticipate that recruitment for our first clinical trial will begin within one year.
In order to conduct a useful early-stage study, we must raise funds through philanthropy. For more information on how you can support our research please visit our Make a Gift page.
